Weight Loss

Lots of people have asked me to talk about my weight loss clinic. This is very difficult as each person is different and what works really well for one person may not work that well for another. So this newsletter will concentrate on some of the supplements that have worked well for a lot of people. Why am I hungry?

Try to mimic how we would behave in nature, we are grazers, so ensure you don't skip meals and eat less but more often. Also avoid calorie ladened processed foods and try to eat more fruits and vegetables.

Mood and eating

We tend to eat more when we feel low or a bit depressed - hence the term "comfort eating"!

5-HTP (5 Hydroxytryptophan) a natural and safe mood elevator that has been shown in scientific studies to significantly increase weight loss. Mood is improved and appetite is decreased.

Take a 100mg tablet in between meals (1 to 3 tablets per day) - away from food - despite what is written on the bottle!

Appetite suppresser

I suggest you try Phytolacca Berry tincture. You simply put 10 drops into a half pint glass of water and drink it 20 to 30 minutes before your next meal.

Sugar and sweet food cravings

For a lot of people it's their "sweet tooth" that cause a lot of weight issues. One of the most important nutrients in helping with this is Chromium. It is essential for the production of the hormone insulin. Insulin is a natural appetite suppresser, when we have low levels of insulin our appetite is increased and we often crave sugar.

It is very important to take the right form of Chromium, because a lot of the supplements sold are very difficult to digest and to get the Chromium into your body. So I recommend the use of Chromium Picolinate one tablet per day after your main meal of the day.

Metabolism increaser/ Stored fat releaser? hCG

This hormone is produced during pregnancy and it activates the pituitary gland to promote the body to burn up stored fat. So it can be very useful in helping during a calorie controlled diet or particularly when it gets more difficult to shed those pounds. We supply a homeopathic version, which can be taken as 5 drops under the tongue 20 minutes after eating, after each meal. This is absorbed through the lining of your mouth. Do not eat or drink anything for twenty minutes before or after taking the drops. Please try to avoid coffee and any strong aromatic foods like mint etc.

Moobs / man boobs or more properly gynecomastia

Diet

Many customers have asked about the 500-calorie per day diet. We do not provide a diet of that nature and feel that it is too drastic. Losing more than 2 pounds per week can put a strain on your heart. We would recommend a 1200 - 1500 calories per day diet depends on your biomass. There are plenty of calorie counting programs out there!!

One of the diets that can be very helpful if you tend to suffer from constipation is the Food Combining Diet (also know as the Hay diet). This is a very simple diet but does require planning. It can be summed up simply as your meals should never mix Protein and Carbohydrate. So you can have vegetables and protein or vegetables and carbohydrate. The carbohydrates can be pasta, bread, potatoes or rice. This type of diet is very easy on the digestive system and although takes some planning, and a little getting used to, can be very effective.

Nutrition

If you are going on a diet it is particularly important you are getting all the essential nutrients to maintain optimum health. This will enable you to exercise safely and effectively. Sudden Obesity

I want to give some more tips about weight loss that I hope you will find helpful.

5 useful tips based on scientific research.

1. Don't skip meals. If you do you will up the levels of the hormone Grenalin. This hormone is not good as it will stimulate your desire for fatty food and high calorie density food. So don't skip meals as this will make you hungrier, and you will ultimately eat more.

2. Plate size. Cut your plate size down from 12" to 10". This is so simple, but studies have shown it can cut down your eating by 22%. We all tend to eat what's on our plate or leave some of it habitually. So to have less on the plate in the first place will mean we eat less, such a simple way to lose a few pounds with no effort.

3. What goes on your plate. Very few of us are calorie aware. You need to get used to counting the calories in your food. For example a big fruit salad will contain the same number of calories as a chicken dinner or one sandwich. Which would you prefer a proper chicken dinner or a big fruit salad? Be very cautious about dressings and sauces they are often laden with calories, as are fruit juices, they contain more calories than beer! So look at the calories in your food - it's the only way. Just remember a 250ml glass of orange juice contains about 300 calories. This take a few moments to drink, but it would take you 30 minutes hard work on a cross trainer to burn it off!!

4. I am doing all the right things and eating all the right food - yet I am still not losing weight. Sorry think again you are not calorie counting accurately. Weight the food and re-assess your calorie counting!!

5. Eat foods that keep you fuller for longer. So eat more protein they keep you fuller for longer and ultimately you will eat less calories. Protein stimulate the production of another hormone, this hormone, known as peptide YY (PYY), was earlier found by the researchers to reduce food intake by a third in both normal-weight and obese people.

I will give you five more tips in the next newsletter but for the moment make full use if these scientifically proven ideas to help you lose weight.

Bowels and weight loss

Fibre

This is a tricky subject - people don't like to talk about their bowels however they can be key to help you losing weight.

The first thing to do is to work out your clearance time, this is the time taken for you to eat something and it appears at the other end (try sweet corn!). This should be around 24 hours. If it is longer than this the likelihood is that you will find it more difficult to lose weight and you generally will be more toxic and have less energy.

So how do you improve it? Well the first thing is to check your fluid intake - you need to be having 1.5ltrs of water minimum, then you need fibre in your diet to maintain water balance in your bowel and improve stool quality.

To do this you can take Psyllium husk capsules

Take 5 capsule per day spread through out the day (take three of them before meal times with your Phytolacca berry tincture - this really helps).

BUT do not take them if you are not going to drink the fluids taking fibre without water has the opposite effect and will make you constipated.

Bowel Flora

You may also want to consider colonising your bowels properly if you suffer from excess flatulence/constipation, again this will also speed up the rate at which you can lose weight.

Why this type of Acidophilus, well it is a very highest potency of Acidophilus and can be taken in water or sprinkled on any cold food so it is very easy to take and does not contain gelatine!!
